Rebecca Schneider, AMFT
Associate Marriage Family Therapist
Hi! My name is Rebecca Schneider, and I am an associate marriage and family therapist at The Therapy Innovation and a native San Diegan. I have a variety of interests outside the therapy room, including card making, scrapbooking, puzzles, and photography. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years and have two amazing children, even though one is
technically an adult, and my youngest is in middle school. I spend my Saturdays watching my son play football and taking hundreds of photos, which drives him crazy, followed by Sundays, when I
watch more football. You could say we're football enthusiasts! I approach life with optimism and resilience, and champion autonomy, sexual and gender expression, and individuality as
essential foundations for personal growth.
Clinical Experience
My experience working with children, teens, adults, and couples has been rewarding, and I find myself drawn to couples therapy because of my use of evidence-based treatments from Gottman’s method. I am passionate about helping people with depression and anxiety, as these cut close to home for me. In addition, I have worked with clients who experience ADHD attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) who are and are not neurodivergent and are looking for an understanding of who they are. PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is unfortunately very common, but through hard work and therapy, it can be managed. I
also have worked with people with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), and through CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), we can look at unhelpful thinking and address those concerns. With BPD
(borderline personality disorder), I use DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) and walk with my clients on their journey to recovery. I have spent the past year working with kids, teens, and adults who
identify with the LGBTQIA+ community or are allies. I believe that through fostering acceptance, inclusion, empowerment, and affirmation, an individual can achieve a healthier perspective in
life and of themselves.
